Welcome to the official website of the Computer Science Department at LUMS. Since its inception in the year 1994 the CS Department has grown from a small unit to a faculty of over twenty PhDs. The CS Department offers BSc Honors, MS and PhD degrees in the areas of Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

Computer Science is a field that continues to evolve at a rate faster than other disciplines. Advances in the field have resulted in significant developments in computer and software technology, which in turn, has had a tremendous impact on the way research is conducted. As a result the Department has increased its emphasis on research during the last few years. Over the last five years the Computer Science faculty has produced more that 150 publications. Major focus areas of research are Computer System Architecture, Computer Vision, Embedded Systems and Computer Architecture, High Performance Computing, Multimedia Systems, Networks and Wireless Communications, Robotics and Intelligent Computing, Software Engineering and Information Management, and Theoretical Computer Science.

Realizing the need for the development of interdisciplinary research activities so as to strengthen and broaden our field, the Department has initiated close collaboration with other local and international academic as well as industrial institutions.The department continues to contribute to advances in Computer Science and Computer Engineering and is striving to improve its position as one of the leading computer science departments in Pakistan.
