MS/PhD Eligibility
The University policy is to admit students purely on merit, based on:

  • Academic record
    All applicants must have 16 years of education with at least 60% / FIRST DIVISION marks at intermediate, undergraduate and graduate levels
  • LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT) scores
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Information provided in the application form
  • Interview Performance (if needed)
    Applicants to the PhD program (CS & CMPE) will have to appear for an interview. They will be initially prescreened on the basis of academic performance and LGAT scores. After the prescreening stage, they will be called for an interview.

BSc Eligibility
Undergraduate students are selected for admission after evaluation of the following factors

  • Academic Record
  • Entrance Tests
  • Interview
  • Submission of a completed application form

Generous Financial Assistance
The University is committed to providing financial assistance in the form of scholarships and loans to deserving students every year. These are full as well as partial scholarships and loans.


Department funding opportunities available to students are:

  • LUMS Merit Scholarship – for PhD students
  • Research Assistantships with professors on research grants
  • Teaching Assistantship opportunities within LUMS


Several external funding opportunities available to students are:

  • Frontier Education Foundation Scholarship – for students from NWFP
  • Uch Power Loan – for students from Balochistan
  • Suleman Dawood Loan –need-based loans
  • HEC-JICA Scholarships
  • Various other need-based and research-specific opportunities for financial aid


Tuition fee waiver as well as a monthly stipend is given on merit to PhD students.
