Amjad Luna received a Ph.D. and MS degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA in 1996. Dr Luna taught at the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore for one year before joining LUMS in 2005. Prior to UET Dr Luna acquired over six years of research and development experience in the communication industry in the United States. The principal focus of his work has been on developing efficient algorithms and their implementations at the Physical layer.
His research interests include signal processing, communications, and channel coding. He has been involved in the design, simulation, development, and implementation of a wide variety of communication and error-control systems for wire-line, wireless, cable, and satellite communication applications. Dr Luna is a member of the SIGMA Lab. The laboratory undertakes research and development projects in the area of embedded systems, and DSP-based design. On March 28, 2006 he got a US Patent ,7,020,279 on Method and system for filtering a signal and for providing echo cancellation.
