
The department of computer science has a formal Departmental Research Committee known as LUMS-DRC to grant research projects and to support research labs. The research projects described below were funded by the department of computer science during the academic years 2004-2005, 2005-2006, 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. Mentor Graphics, through a cash donation of over $100,000/- has established a Chair in Embedded Systems in the Dept of Computer Science. Given below are the main objectives of this initiative.
1. Create a highly skilled work force that is equipped to deal with challenges in Embedded Systems Design in the 21st Century.
2. Stimulate Interest of Scientists and Engineers in Embedded Systems Design through Curriculum Improvement at LUMS and Specialized Industry Training.
3. Stimulate Research Activities in Embedded Systems Design. Topics that have been identified for initiating research work are in Low Power Software Architectures for Embedded Applications.
4. Promote Industry-Academia partnership through close interaction with the Lahore Office of Mentor Graphics.
