Raza Shahid joined the Department of Computer Science in March 2005. He received his MSc degree in Speech and Language Processing from the University of Edinburgh where he worked with Center for Speech Technology Research for his master’s thesis on automatic multiparty speech summarisation system. Raza has also done few projects with Center for Research in Urdu Language Processing at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences during his undergraduate degree in computer science.
His research interests include spoken language processing, speech recognition, speech synthesis, speaker identification, text and speech summarisation, computational linguistics of Urdu and Urdu corpus linguistics. He has some publications in scientific study of Urdu language. He is involved in establishing a speech and language laboratory and it’s curriculum development. Recently, he has introduced two new courses Phonetics & Phonology at undergraduate level and Speech & Language Processing at graduate level.
